In this online, self-paced course, participants will have four months access to examine ways to help children in grades K-3 acquire the knowledge, skills, and experiences they must have to achieve levels of literacy that will enable them to be successful through their school careers and beyond. This administrator's academy will be taught in the Illinois Statehouse when the legislature is in session.  Representatives will be scheduled to speak to participants about the legislative process in a hearing room in the Capitol.  Participants will also have the opportunity to attend legislative hearings.  As a result of taking this workshop, participants will understand and be able to work effectively with legislators and their staff, apply rules for giving testimony at legislative hearings, develop working relationships with the Legislative Reference Bureau and the Legislative Information System, and work with the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules.
